Celebrity Encounters: Kate Perry
Today’s celeb encounter comes at a price. J, a childhood friend of mine, made me promise that I would recount an incident where I was late for supper one night and, in an act of desperation, threw myself off my bicycle and rolled around in the dirt to make it look as if I’d been in an accident, thus exonerating me from being tardy. He still finds this hilarious. With that out of the way, here’s J’s Kate Perry story:
“We performed at the Vans Warped Tour, and I had a special bracelet that gave me access to pretty much everywhere so I took full advantage. I didn’t really get a chance to talk to her ‘cause her publicist whisked her away three minutes after her set, but she’s a great performer and very personable. My buddy was on the side of the stage with me and during her set and when she saw him in his sailor hat her eyes lit up. She shimmied over (while singing), motioned to him for the hat and did the next few songs with his dirty sailor hat on her head. During “Kissed a Girl” there were tons of girls being hoisted up in the crowd making out…it was hot!”
